Our
Theatre

We have been relying on theatre as a medium of expression to make our voices heard, since it has been one of the formats that engaged with most audiences. We wanted to learn a bit more about the structure of it. Aheli Guha of AMCA (Amiya Memorial Creative Art) took us through a flattering journey of expression without words, through mime. Swapan Biswas of Kathabhasya presented us the opportunity to learn tad-bits of method acting, voice modulation and presentation through body language. We also have been through a residential workshop exploring theatre as a tool of living, a discourse on sexuality and a reflective session on organizational behavior.

Daba (The game of chess)

The time we are experiencing has been of extremities. Whenever there has been a display of power, there has been shadows of death, loss of lives, vandalism, grief, survivors' guilt. This piece of theater puts forward the same story again, against which Owen, Brooke, Sassoon, Seegar used their mightier pens. The story, that we are mere pawns in the hands of socially draining, excruciating power-mongers without even realizing it. We lose our faith, friends, human connects only to make survival harder, differences stronger, resulting in nothingness. The overall production has been directed by Sumit Bandopadhyay.
